Head Boys Coach - Hansen Wendlandt

Hansen Wendlandt, former University of Colorado Men's Head Coach, was the 2006 Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Coach of the Year, after leading the CU Varsity 8 to the school’s first Conference Championship, and the JV to a silver medal. In that post-season, he coached the CU men to a bronze medal at the non-scholarship collegiate championships (Dad Vail's), and to a berth at the IRA National Championship—only the 5th school from the west ever invited. Before coming to CU, Hansen coached at MIT and Hillsborough High School (Tampa), and rowed as a pre-elite lightweight at Riverside Boat Club, at Oxford University, and for various other clubs in America. Away from crew, Hansen serves as Youth Pastor and Director of Christian Education at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. Email Hansen at hwendlandt@hotmail.com.

 

Head Girls Coach - Lauren Rubini

Lauren Rubini began rowing on the east coast in 7th grade. She raced for her local high school, T.C. Williams, in Alexandria, VA as well as in the Olympic Festival and Junior Worlds. She attended Boston University on a full athletic scholarship through rowing. Lauren has raced in both sweep and sculling and has coached at all levels. Coach - Keisuke Nishimoto

Keisuke Nishimoto started rowing in a high school club in Tokyo and rowed there for two years. During his college years Kei coached the club for three years while training for the triathlon. Under his coaching, the crews in the high school club won the annual high school match regatta three times in a row and the men's four ranked in 5th in the national invitational high school regatta. After graduating from college, Kei got a level C rowing coach certificate from Japan Sports Association. Currently Kei is rowing in BCR and he is also offering sculling lessons.

 

Besides rowing, Kei has finished more than 35 triathlon races including 3 Ironman distance races as well as 10 full marathons.

 

Coach - Aaron Quilling

Aaron Quilling was a founding member of Colorado Junior Crew in 2003 along with coaches and rowers from the University of Colorado summer rowing program. Aaron rowed his first year at CU as the first Freshman on the Varsity Crew. Aaron is currently a full time student at CU majoring in English, and also works as an intern for the Global Monitoring Division at NOAA.
